Trusting God and Dreaming with Him in the Empty Nest Season
The day comes sooner than we expect—the moment our grown children step into their own lives, their own dreams, and their own adventures with God. As parents, we’ve spent years nurturing, praying, and pouring into them, and now, we release them into the world. It can feel bittersweet, but there is a deep comfort in remembering one powerful truth: God loves them even more than we do.
He is Emmanuel, God with us, and that means He is also God with them—wherever they go, in whatever choices they make, in every challenge they face. When we are not physically present, He is. When we don’t have all the answers, He does. This truth anchors us in peace when worry tries to creep in.
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
—Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
But this season isn’t just about trusting God with our children—it’s also about dreaming with Him for ourselves. Just as our kids step into their next chapter, so do we. The empty nest is not an ending, but an invitation. God still has dreams and purposes for us, and He is calling us to trust Him with our future as well.
So, we bless our children as they go, declaring over them His goodness, protection, and presence. And we turn our hearts toward Him, asking, “Lord, what dreams do You have for me now?”

- I trust that God loves my children even more than I do and that He is with them always.
- I release fear and embrace the new dreams and plans God has for my life.
- I walk in peace, knowing that God goes before me and my family in every season.
He is still writing beautiful stories—for them and for us.
Trust Him. Dream with Him. He is Emmanuel, always with us.
